Tonight at the 61st annual GRAMMY Awards, Chris Cornell posthumously won the award for Best Rock Performance.

Here were the nominees in the category:

Arctic Monkeys – “Four Out of Five”
Chris Cornell – “When Bad Does Good”
The Fever 333 – “Made An America”
Greta Van Fleet – “Highway Tune”
Halestorm – “Uncomfortable”

Two of his children accepted the award for him, his son, Christopher and his daughter Toni.

Christopher began his speech “I never thought we’d be standing here without my dad. I’m sure he would be proud and honored. He was known for many things. He was a rock icon, the godfather of grunge and the creator of a movement. His contribution to music history made a lasting impact upon genres and generations. He was also one of the greatest poets of his time, whose soaring unforgettable vocals made him the voice of a generation. While he touched the hearts of millions, most importantly he is known for  to us is for being the greatest father in our ear.”

Toni took over and noted “His voice was his vision and  his music was his peace.” After thanking various industry folks and their mom, Toni concluded “This is for you daddy and we love you so much.”
