Norway’s VREID (Norwegian for “Wrath”) are streaming another new track off their highly anticipated album, ‘Lifehunger’. The track, hailed as featuring “soaring melodies and feverish blasts into a frigid, blackened concoction” is titled “One Hundred Years”, and is streaming now at Metal Injection: http://www.metalinjection.net/av/song-premiere/vreid-one-hundred-years (also posted above).
Regarding the new track, VREID comment, “Soon we can finally unleash “Lifehunger”. We are so damn satisfied and proud of this album, and thank you for the fantastic response for the 2 first singles. There are much more to come, the album have a lot of variations with instrumentals, a very different track in “Hello Darkness” with Addi from Solstafir on guest vocals and some brutal stuff of course. But now we present you what I think is one of the absolute highlights of the album. The song “One hundred years” is one of these songs that you do in you’re career where you feel that every puzzle matches, and everything just ads up. Its hard do describe it, and frankly the magic of music can never described so I won’t even try. I have had this feeling a few times before with songs such as “Pitch Black” and “Solverv” to name a few, and this is the feeling I always chase as a composer. Lyrically this song is completely inspired by the words and the myth of the spectacular Knut Hamsun. Some things are eternal.”
‘Lifehunger’ will be released worldwide by Season of Mist in September 28. Pre-orders for the album are available across CD and LP formats here: https://shopusa.season-of-mist.com/list/vreid
VREID have announced a co-headlining European tour with KALMAH beginning this winter. The tour kicks off on Dec. 5, and follows VREID’s previously announced tour with ENSLAVED and GAAHL’s WYRD. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.
VREID are touring in support of their forthcoming new album, ‘Lifehunger’. VREID’s new album sees the veteran quartet champion the majesty and tradition of melodic black metal, with a unique rock edge. Tracks such as “One Hundred Years”, “Dead White” and “Black Rites in the Black Nights” sees the band blend triumphant lead guitars with somber melodies and ferocious blast beats. ‘LIFEHUNGER’ is truly extreme metal devoid of genre convention, and redefines darkness within its metallic grandeur.
The artwork and track list for ‘Lifehunger’ can be found below:
1. Flowers & Blood
2. One Hundred Years
4. The Dead White
5. Hello Darkness
6. Black Rites in the Black Nights
7. Sokrates Must Die
VREID were formed in 2004. The Norwegian band was established as the spiritual successor of the highly influential, pioneering folk/black metal band WINDIR. Not content with simply replicating their past, VREID have carved out a space within their native Norwegian scene as of the leading purveyors of “Black N’ Roll”.
Throughout the course of their career, VREID has been a band that has constantly evolved their sound. To date, the band’s discography, 7 well-received full-lengths, have all showcased the band’s ability to combine the strongest elements of black metal – visceral riffs, melodic compositions, and crushing aggression alongside lyrics ranging from extreme emotional themes to historical matters in their native country.
Currently, the veterans are working on new material and are looking to record their eighth album this fall. VREID Composer and mastermind, Hváll comments, “it will be one hell of an album. After more than 20 years of playing together our spirit is stronger than ever and we can hardly wait to get in studio again to give birth to our new creations”.
VREID have recently announced a headlining tour across Japan. The tour begins in November, and sees support from KEEP OF KALESSIN and SOLEFALD. A full list of confirmed dates can be found below.
