High on Fire have picked up the 2019 Grammy for Best Metal Performance for last year’s album Electric Messiah!
High on Fire beat out Between the Buried and Me, Deafheaven, Trivium and Underoath. The band accepted the award themselves, thanking (among others) their longtime manager Nick John, who passed away last year.
As usual, the Grammy Awards’ lone metal category wasn’t featured on the nationwide TV broadcast this evening, but was part of the pre-ceremony event streamed online.
Congratulations to High on Fire!!!
Chris Cornell picked up the Best Rock Performance Grammy for “When Bad Goes Good,” with his son and daughter accepting the award. Greta Van Fleet won Best Rock Album for From The Fires. Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale presented several awards earlier in the night.
