From Ashes To New’s Danny Case On Rapping In Nü Metal: “I Don’t Think There Were Enough Bands That Did It”

While many of the genre’s pioneering acts moved away from it, nü metal/rap metal revivalists From Ashes To New freely indulge in having rap verses included within their style of relatively heavy music. Sure, there’s been a bit of momentum shift as of late with Papa Roach having once again embraced rapping on their recent releases.

Though it’s not exactly genre-related, even Slipknot, etc. frontman Corey Taylor recently dropped some bars—something he previously toyed with during Slipknot‘s earlier days. Still, From Ashes To New vocalist Danny Case may need to take deeper dive into the depths of nü metal.

He dropped the below hot take on the inclusion of rap verses during the heydays of the genre during a recent appearance on the ‘BREWtally Speaking Podcast‘:

“I don’t think there were enough bands that did it… I think especially with mixing specifically hip hop and rock and metal, like having… full fledged hip hop with full fledged rap; there’s Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach. There’s not a long list. For us we just felt like there weren’t enough bands to represent that part of nü metal.”

Next up for From Ashes To New is this U.S. tour with Falling In Reverse, Ice Nine Kills and New Years Day.
